FAQ: Node operation and troubleshooting (Standalone)
StandaloneVersion 1.0 · 6 November 2026KC-03-009-SA
Q81What should be done if a node is completely unresponsive (no LED activity)?
- Check HPC voltage → Must be > 2.5 V for a healthy HPC.
- Test D-Cell voltage under load → Must be > 3.0 V.
- Power on the node and press the internal test/reset button. Observe LED activity on the PCB.
- If no LEDs illuminate → Perform a forced firmware update (refer to Ackcio's video guide).
- If the node does not respond to the forced update → Declare as hardware failure and contact Ackcio at support@ackcio.com.
Q82How does standalone mode work, and what are the requirements?
- Hardware: HW 3.6 only
- Firmware: v5.2.24.1001 or later
- No Gateway or external antenna required
- Configuration via Android device with the latest Nimbus app only
- Sampling rate as low as 1 minute (vs. standard 5-minute minimum in mesh mode)
In standalone mode, data is retrieved by physically visiting the node and downloading readings manually.
Full walkthrough: Commissioning in Standalone mode.
Q83Does firmware need to be updated on new nodes before deployment?
- Analogue & VW nodes: Not required; select sensor type during commissioning.
- Digital (DG) nodes: Firmware must be updated to match the connected sensor manufacturer.
Best practice: update all nodes to the latest firmware before any deployment.
Q85Why is the Nimbus app not detecting a node via Micro-USB?
Enable OTG (On-The-Go) under your Android device settings and retry.
Q86What Android OS version does the Nimbus app require?
Android OS 8.0 or higher.
Q87What should be done when a 'Failed to detect sensing module' error appears on VWS1 or VWS8?
Update the node firmware to the latest version and retry. If the error persists after the update, contact Ackcio support at support@ackcio.com with the outcome.
